Henriette Khady Kone’s collection celebrates Ivory Coast; its different ethnic groups, gorgeous beaches, and the joie de vivre of its inhabitants. From THE NOBLESSE AKAN, a mermaid dress and bustier made from wax print pieces, to the ABIDJANAISE, an orange creation with an asymmetrical cape, and THE TOURIST FEERIE, a green long, flared dress reflecting Ivory Coast’s forests to THE COAST, a shimmering garment with wing-shaped sleeves, and decorated with shells.
HARMONIOUS FUSION tells the story of wax print combined with pearls. LA BUSY LADY is for the multi-tasking yet classy businesswoman. After a busy work week, FREEDOM presents a completely coordinated outfit perfect for relaxing. Finally, THE PETILLANTE is all about glamour – adorned with pearls and matching earrings and a headwrap. For an elegant dinner date, the mermaid silhouette off L’ADMIRABLE ETOILEE accentuates the female figure. And finally, the DUCHESS wedding gown balances feminine allure with modesty.
Sonia Nangbo’s collection was inspired by current environmental issues. Plastic, wax print and pearls tell the story of the commoner, Grace, in five outfits. A Prince, in search of a wife, held a contest where the winner would personify originality, beauty and refinement. Dressed in transparent vinyl, Grace rose above the other 1001 competitors and hypnotised the king. They were wed. This union shows that wax print and transparent vinyl can be an ecological solution, while being both pleasant and beautiful to wear.
