In his collection, The Contemporary Monarch of Wax, Lionel Guezodje explores regal silhouettes that celebrate the wax fabric as much as the elegant woman who wears it. His looks communicate several characteristics of women of royalty : committed, seductive, entrepreneurial and elegant.

Agoo Collection
We are in 1960, the aftermath of independence. A wind of freedom blows over Cotonou and with it emerges a new wave of strong young women, elegant and bearing the beginnings of an avant-garde feminism. This collection is called “AGOO” which means “make place or pass”. It is an expression commonly used to break through a crowd.

Women of Influence
Today, in Africa and all over the world, women have established themselves and their place in society. They are Women of Influence, and this collection by Paola Sah for the Vlisco Fashion Fund describes five of those women: The airhostess, the inspirer, the aspiring fashion designer, the breadwinner, the rock in the family.

By September 30, the Fashion Fund Team had received over 600 portfolios from fashion creatives based in Africa and many other places around the world. It was an enormous challenge to choose from so many great designers. The candidates who presented the most remarkable designs in the most interesting ways and who showed the most potential were invited for interview.
