AFRICAN FASHION WEEK LONDON 2019 FEATURED PARAMOLE OMOTAYO

The previous Nigerian winner of the Vlisco Fashion Fund 2018 Paramole Omotayo, owner and lead creative designer at TESMI, participated in African Fashion Week London (AFWL) on August 9th, 2019. African Fashion Week London was created by Ronke Ademiluyi. It is one of the world’s largest catwalk events of African and African-inspired design. Highlighting the industry’s established and emerging African designers, AFWL is at the forefront of capturing the surge of the African inspired trends in the fashion industry.

AT THE FREEMASON’S HALL IN LONDON

TESMI was the official designer for the celebrity catwalk presented by Vlisco at the Freemason’s Hall in London. He brought captivating silhouettes and inspirational creativity to the runway with his collection “Ties that bind”. The phrase “ties that bind” is a true expression of the African soul. In this collection, TESMI explores the link that Africans share, a link that transcends geographical location, place of birth or nationality. TESMI brings these ties of connection to life in each and every piece of his collection.

Where some may see differences and separation, Omotayo chooses a different viewpoint. This designer explores and celebrates resemblance and unity. “It has always been a joy for me to accept who I am, and unite myself within my greater African family, regardless of colour, tribe and religion. AFWL was the platform for me to talk about unity through the art of my designs,” says Paramole Omotayo.

AFWL has showcased over 900 emerging designers and exhibitors, from Africa, Europe and America, to almost 80,000 visitors including buyers, retailers, influential industry professionals, and the media.

It has always been a joy for me to accept who I am, and unite myself within my greater African family, regardless of colour, tribe and religion. AFWL was the platform for me to talk about unity through the art of my designs.
