Meet the Global Jury of the Vlisco Fashion Fund

This week the Global Jury visits The Netherlands to review the results of the 21 finalists of this year’s Fashion Fund contest. The global jury consists of Bubu Ogisi from fashion label I A M I S I G O, Oliver and Velma from the creative platform 2Manysiblings, and Zara Atelj, creative director of Vlisco. We are delighted to have Bubu, Oliver and Velma involved in the very important process of selecting the 7 winners of this year’s Fashion Fund.

About Bubu Ogisi

I A M I S I G O is a fashion label based between Nigeria, Ghana and France that seeks to create a striking awareness of how African culture can be fused with an audacious yet minimal design aesthetic. A versatile and fashion forward DNA is achieved through the use of visually textured fabrics with clean silhouettes. More recently, I A M I S I G O has diversified to semi functional design homeware products.

IAMISIGO was established as an independent brand in 2009. After rebranding in 2013, IAMISIGO is now primarily based in Lagos with a showroom in Lagos, Nigeria along with pieces sold at retail stores in Lagos, Accra, New york, Nairobi, Mumbai, London, Zurich, Johannesburg, Abidjan and Paris. Our pieces are currently on display at the Tropen Museum in Amsterdam “Fashion cities Africa” 2018 and at the museum of ethnology in Hamburg, Germany “forms of flow” 2018.

About Velma Rose and Oliver Asike

2manysiblings is an open and highly engaged platform developed by a creative professional duo of brother and sister, Oliver Asike and Velma Rosai-Makhandia. 2manysiblings is a passion project started 2013 that was birthed out of the need to simply document their sartorial commentary and how it’s integrated with their everyday african environment. This was explored through collaborative processes with photographers based in Africa. 2manysiblings offers a unique mix of information on matters fashion, arts, and culture with a view to add positively to the fabric of the contemporary African narrative.
