Spirited fabrics are trending down the aisle as the traditional white wedding is becoming more versatile and authentic every season. From bride to groom, best friend to best man, an increasing number of guests are opting for monumental outfits on a monumental day.
What better way to be an unforgettable bride than to wear the fabrics that speak a thousand words? In collaboration with Glam Africa and designers Elie Kuame, Stylista and Toju Foyeh, a colourful collection with bold fabrics was created for the woman of the hour and Glam’s Bridal Issue. Get inspired by these mesmerizing African wedding dresses and the inspiration from the designers.
Elie Kuame
Undaunted by colour and mixing prints – Ivorian-Lebanese designer Elie Kuame’s ethereal bridesmaid is comfortable in her own skin. Here she is in an embroidered lace dress with long train of WaxWax fabric.

Toju Foyeh
A powerful woman who rules over her kingdom in grace and elegance that is the regal bride Nigerian designer Toju Foyeh designs for.
This is a woman who is not afraid to be different, Afrocentric, daring and modern.
Stylista
It takes a special kind of wizardry to balance being the centre of attention and yet never seeking the spotlight. Stylista’s bride is free as a butterfly in Vlisco WaxWax on sequined lace with matching silvery polka dots.
My wedding gown was inspired by the butterfly motif in the fabric, which became the focal point of my design. The glistening of the silvery polka dots against the shades of indigo in the Vlisco fabric reminded me of the beauty and enchantment of a butterfly.
Most looks are created with Vlisco’s WaxWax fabrics, which are unique for their elegant half-tone visual effect that combines two different, timeless indigo designs that are on each side of the fabric. This distinctive effect is only achievable with Vlisco’s special wax process. With one side embellished in shimmering metallic highlights, WaxWax has all the sophisticated flair you need for a special celebration.
