After his studies at the Royal College of Art, English-Nigerian illustrator Tomi Olidapo was encouraged by his wife to start working in textile design. As his love for textiles grew, he couldn’t have been happier to start working at Vlisco’s design department.
“I love how the brand is able to combine outspokenness and subtlety all at once, and that’s very rare in the textile world, where most brands tend to play it safe.”
To Tomi, Vlisco’s industrial craft makes all the difference: “I am in awe of the craftsmanship involved in the wax printing process.”
Tomi is often inspired by older Vlisco fabrics and classic elements, to which he gives a new, modern twist. For example, his design below Tomi took iconic designs out of their original context and gave them a fresh alternative.
