Eugenia Mawuena Adjoa Tachie-Menson, the founder and CEO of Young Educators Foundation and former Vlisco Ambassador for Ghana (2014), is a passionate educator who makes learning fun for children ages 8-18 through spelling competitions and other educational programmes.
She believes that children are not our ‘future’, but rather our ‘present’ and she likes to remind them that “the biggest risk in life, is not taking one”.
With her literacy computer program The Spelling Bee, Eugenia reaches over one thousand children per year. The Scripps Spelling Bee, which originated in the US, is an educational programme she brought to Ghana that is also run by her charity. She expanded her works to Nigeria by opening another branch, still focusing on children and education. Based on her work in education and with children, the charity was a finalist in the prestigious Africa Awards for Entrepreneur – Social Category.
